It’s been a while since our last podcast but I have spent the time preparing and presenting a Seminar for Men on “The Path of Masculinity”. However I’m back now and have a lot to share with you.
This past weekend I co-hosted the Mens Seminar and spent time and effort working with and exploring this model and clarifying for my self what this model holds. Many thanks to those who attended. Look for future seminars on these topics.
Also I’m listening to a Podcast called “The Mind of Men” and I recommend them fully. The have a new episode every week and cover a wide variety of topics.

Jevon,
I enjoyed listening to your podcast re: the four masculine archetypes. I ordered the book by Moore/Gillette today and am looking forward to reading it. In addition I have gained a great deal of assistance dealing with personal issues re: relationships, character development, and understanding my own masculinity through Dr. Paul’s material. I recently attended one of his seminars which had a profound effect on me.
As it relates to this specific subject, I took the KWML quiz and scored primarily as a Lover. In some ways it made sense to me, but it also felt off to an equal degree.
During my attendance at the seminar I asked Dr. Paul, after he had interacted with me for several days, where he placed me.
He said, on the cusp between a King and Warrior.
I let that sink in and it began to resonate very strongly the more I integrated it into my temperament.
I am very analytical, left brained, organized, a doer i.e. I get things done and have an almost obsessive drive to see them through to the end.
I am extremely focused, perfectionistic in that I do not do things half way, or just good enough.
I am also one who stands back and contemplates my actions. I look at the big picture before leaping into almost anything. I have been a supervisor and manager (i.e. I have directed others as well) for two Biotechnology companies and would say that I am a compassionate, caring person. In relationships with women I have been very nurturing and protective.
For me, being in darkness has taken the form of the two archetypes being disconnected from each other. Without the King’s guidance, the Warrior may feel anxious. Without the confident action of the Warrior, the King is prone to be passive and depressed.
Together, they compliment each other by looking at any given task, situation, from both a “big picture” and “target” pespective, and then taking focused, precise action to arrive at the determined destination, at times as one person (myself), by directing others, or actively participating AND leading.
The KWML concept is very new to me. The process of putting this together both intellectually and emotionally i.e. the integration of my two primary archetypes is something I am still
working on.
I see aspects of the Lover and Magician in me as well, but Dr. Paul’s assessment feels right as my primary archetype center point.
Thank you for this material.

Not much activity here!
Too sad! Loved the Moore/Gilette book!
My suggestions:
Fire in the Belly, Sam Keen
Iron John/A little Book on the Human Shadow/ The Maiden King Robert Bly
Meeting the Shadow/Romancing the Shadow, J Abrams
He/She/We, Robert Johnson
Women who run with the Wolves, C Pinkola-Estes
Goddesses in Women, Shinoda-Bowen
And King Warrior Magician Lover was reprinted as four expanded volumes
Yes it is sad that I havn’t podcasted in almost 3 years. I continue to blog when I can and often think about restarting my podcast.
Thank you for your thoughts!
